Tourist areas

City Alaior defined by all guides and tourist brochures as the "Montpellier menorquín" due to the full silhouette medieval houses with steps to the top of a small knoll where stands the belfry of the parish church. It is a city where they can find all varieties of industrial cheese, both in factories and shops in grocery stores or individuals, in addition to the footwear industry that characterize both.

Alaior streets are always lively, and special charm is the old cloister of the Church of San Diego (XVII century), known as Es Pati de sa Lluna. Within the city, particularly emphasizes the building of the house Salort (Carrer Major, 14-16), an eighteenth century manor house that is modeled after the palace of Ciutadella.

However, what is most striking is undoubtedly the visitor small "vil·les d'esbarjo" (villas recreation) of their surroundings. They are very simple constructions, porch and front garden, built from the late nineteenth century to the forties.

From Alaior get two additional routes. The first leads to Cala en Porter, with access to the site of Torralba and the other leads to the coast from Son Bou, one of the major tourist beaches of Menorca.

Cala en Porter is one of the neighborhoods that are part of the municipality of Alaior. It is inserted into the mouth of the ravine in Porter. This is one of the coves of the island first came under development, soon becoming a major tourist center. Cala en Porter in several hotels with substantial accommodation capacity. The beach is excellent and very busy throughout the summer.
