Enjoying one of the best preserved and unique natural environments in the Mediterranean, the island has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. The island is a genuine natural paradise of spectacular ravines, underwater and land caves, where wild birds, animals and plants may be observed in their natural habitat. Within a 702 km2 area you will find the Natural Park of S’Albufera des Grau, five nature reserves, a marine reserve and nineteen N.A.S.I areas (Natural Areas of Special Interest).
