Storms in Menorca
The wind that characterizes the island: Tramontana
As already announced, Menorca has many great mountains. This implies that the island is constantly exposed to flow north and that on more than one occasion, suffer the occasional jolt.
If we add the dreaded wind (Tramontana), dry and cold, easily reaching the hundred miles per hour, this small island becomes a spectacle weather. Hence, in so many compilations on the Balearic Islands, Menorca is treated as the "island of winds".
Anecdotally, noted that past it was said that anyone who lived on the ground shaken by the north wind (Catalonia, Balearic Islands and southern France), was more prone to depression and, ultimately, psychological disorders (mixed feelings, sudden change of conduct, etc.)..There is currently no scientific basis to it.
