Sir Richard Kane was an Irish military officer who governed Menorca during the first two British rules.
He planned several roads around the island to make communications between the military troops easier from the fortresses in Maó and Ciudadela.
Currently, only the stretch that joins Maó to Es Mercadal is still in use.
